RE: [BDMariners] Capt. Zahiruddin Mahmood (1N) passed away (show original) Oct 5

Inna lillahi wainna ilaihi rajiun.

When my father (chief medical officer of Mongla port) died at Khulna in 1985,

Capt Zahir was probably the Conservator of Mongla port. I was not told but he made all the arrangements with BSC for me to come from my ship in Chittagong anchorage to home in Khulna.

When I came home for my father’s funeral, he was so considerate of the situation and gave us one or two vehicles for logistics support. I was a kid and he took me to his side and I do not remember what exactly he said but I still recall the moment that it filled my heart……..

I will never forget it in my life and my prayers for capt. Zahir will be from my heart as well.

He was indeed a kind and nice human being.

May Allah forgive his shortcomings and place him in Jannah.

Capt. Zahiruddin Mahmood was in command onboard my first ship Banglar Doot (ex- Viswa Prem) in 1977. He was kind, compassionate and an ever-smiling man. He sailed with his family (bhabi and two daughters) who provided a beautiful, fun-filled family atmosphere. Quite a memorable time.

May Allah forgive Capt. Zahiruddin Mahmood, grant him Jannatul Ferdous.

We are deeply saddened to hear the tragic news of Capt Zahiruddin Mahmood.

Inna lillahi wa lnna Elahi rajeun.

He was a very dear and respected senior mariner brother. I had the good fortune to sail with him and I have very fond memories of him along with Capt Ferdaus, Capt Belayet and Capt Zakaria since our apprenticeship days in Karachi. They treated us always with loving cares, truly like big brothers. That relationship we maintained and nurtured.

May Allah SWT accept all his good deeds and forgive all his failings to grant him a place in Jannat al Ferdaus in His Final Judgment.

May Allah, the most Merciful bless the members of his bereaved family, be Kind and Graceful to provide them with strength and courage to continue with their lives.

Sheikh Shahabuddin, 02E.

AssA wr wb

I am deeply saddened at the news of eternal departure of Capt Zahiruddin Mahmood bhai (Innah Lillahe…razeyoon). May his soud rest in peace and May Allah SWT grant him a place in Jannatul Ferdous. Please do convey my condolence to Bhabi & the bereaved family members.

The more I think of Zahir bhai the more I become saddened. He had outstanding personality & unparalleled performer. The first time I met him when he was a pilot (1973) in Mongla. He saw me on a ship and immediately asked me to visit him at the Pilot’s quarter/flat. It was as if he knew me for a long time. He (and Belayet bhai) treated me to a fabulous meal. Next I met him again in Khulna when he was a member operation. Thereafter our path crossed many times. He rose to the top through his tenacious act of brilliance. We surely lost an exceptional star performer and a lifelong mentor. Zahir bhai had exceptional qualities with deep fellow feelings. His juniors were his brothers. I truly mourn today for this wonderful human being, an elder brother and a fellow Academy alumni.

May his soul find peace ever after.

Ameen
