No one can enter or leave Chattogram city until further notice: CMP

Chattogram Metropolitan Police (CMP) on Monday said no individual or vehicle except for emergency services will be allowed to enter or leave the port city.

CMP Commissioner Mahabubur Rahman told The Business Standard that the directive will take effect from Monday 10 pm and remain effective till further notice. 

The CMP has imposed the restrictions on the movement of people and all kinds of transport to stem the spread of coronavirus, according to a CMP press release. 

Check-posts have already been set up at city’s five entry points – City Gate, Oxygen Intersection, Kaptai Intersection, Kalurghat Bridge and Shah Amanat Bridge. Besides, such check-posts have also been set up at various points inside the port city.  

CMP Additional Deputy Commissioner (public relations) Mohammad Abu Bakar Siddique said stern actions will be taken against those who violate the order. 

Two people have tested positive for coronavirus till date in the port city and five suspects have been kept in isolation.
