BMMOA family night and cultural program 2020

Traditionally BMMOA family nights were always arranged in Chattogram. Considering the numbers of Members staying in Dhaka, present EC committee took the initiative to arrange the Family Night in Dhaka on 10th January 2020.

Venue: Moghbazar Convention Center Ltd.
227 (New) 331(Old) Outer Circular Road, Boro Moghbazar, Dhaka-1217.

Chief Guest: Honorable Minister of State, Ministry of Shipping, Bangladesh.

Distinguished guest: Secretary of Bangladesh Shipping Ministry Abdus Samad

On the family night program there was no formal meeting with minister but only speeches were given.

Being family night, there was not no press release.

In his speech, the honourable Minister of Shipping covered various areas of the industry including the following:

1. We need to improve the quality of our mariners. Improve their professionalism through good training.

2. Being a maritime nation, we have to produce more cadets. So government is opening more academies.

3. Sited example of the Philippines, India, Ukraine and a host of other maritime nations.

4. Bangladesh government is purchasing more seagoing vessels and therefore the ministry and the department of shipping will carry an important role.

5. He emphasised the important role the private sector can play in developing the industry.

6. Additionally he covered the role of the ports. Bangladesh government is going to invest heavily in the construction and operation of several ports including a deep sea port.
