5th reunion of Bangladeshi Mariners in North America; August 30, 31 and September 1, 2019

September 4, 2019

It was a great event that included a reception dinner on Friday night, followed by a gala dinner on Saturday night. The climax came at the picnic spot at a park in Houston on Sunday the 1st September. The organizers in Houston did a tremendous job in getting all acts together to make it in a fantastic gathering.

Speeches, songs and greetings amongst families and friends of the mariners brought the community together and gave it a boost for the future such events. But a stunning event comprised of a drama in Bengali by children.

Mr. Monirul Islam (4th E) of New Orleans floated the idea of having the next event in New Orleans. We should give him a hand of support.

We are unable to produce a full description of the events (as it was a wide variety). A sampling of the emails and messages of thanks from some mariners are indicated below:

All visiting Mariners,

Thank you all very much for your kind messages.

It was truly a memorable and joyous three days for all of us in the host group.  We tried to put together our humble arrangements but the best part of it was you all’s presence.

Sincere thanks again to all.

Peace be upon all of us.

5th Re-Union of Bangldeshi Mariners in Houston.

Good evening everyone,

Thank you to all members of the Houston team for a successful ending of the 2019 Bangladeshi Mariner’s Reunion. Everyone at Houston made us feel very welcome and special, for which I have no words worthy enough for expressing my appreciation and gratitude. I was fascinated and deeply touched by the magnificent and warm hospitality that you all have extended during our stay and I have learnt a lot from you, which would be useful for organizing future get together. Our bonding is unique! We should continue to keep it alive till our last breath.

The cultural functions, the food, and the picnic were awesome! Hats off to all of the kids that performed in the function. We have returned home with a very happy and fresh mind. Many thanks again to the organizers, their spouses, and their children for making this event a successful and memorable one.

Hope to see you all at the next reunion in 2021. We are still searching for the best options to bring some changes. The date/time/location will be announced in the future after a discussion with everyone.

Thanks and best regards.

wow!!! what a bash!!! thank you for the organizing committee for a wonderful job. I enjoyed sooo much seeing everyone and that would not have happened without the many, many hours that you spent bringing our reunion together. Your dedication to this project is amazing and I think it can only happen under the Master Organizer Like Amir bhai, Hasan Bhai, Delhi bhai to name a few. In the organizing the get together I also want to recognize  the Bhavis and family. I am certain without their cooperation and heavy lifting  this wouldn’t have been a successful gathering. And special thanks to the young ones, our future.

Food was amazing. Hopefully you will have a well deserved rest before you all go back to work.

Thanks and appreciate the invitation for you the next reunion in 2 years by NO team . (ha ha)

Thank you  and happy sailing those who are at sea, may the favorable sea and following wind continue. Those who are ashore may have the Grace and tranquility for their fulfillment.

Those who are traveling have safe trip back home.

We are just boarded and on our way home with an unforgettable memory for the rest of outer life.

Thanks again.
