Mesbah in the Dhaka half marathon 2018

A Marathoner amongst the Juldians

We are proud of Mohammed Mesbahuddin 18th N

Once again, Mesbah got qualified for the marathon in Tokyo. He waited for three years for this good news and finally the marathon organizers qualified Mesbah. Each year they select 27,000 runners worldwide out of 350,000 applicants and Mesbah is one of them. For physical preparation, he took a 4 months training program averaging 300 km running practice a month (consisting of aerobic, interval, hill repeat, tempo and long distance run at the week end).

From Singapore 133 runners joined in Tokyo Marathon and he is the only Bangladeshi (from Singapore).

Amazingly the spectators were jam packed both side of the 42 km running track cheering 38,000 runners ignoring the rain and cold weather. Mesbah was well prepared (to his age limit) for this WMM (World Marathon Major) and expecting a PB (Personal Best) and nailed it at Tokyo.

His next mission (WMM) will be in Chicago on 13th October 2019.

In November of 2018 Mesbah visited Dhaka for a day to participate Dhaka Half marathon (21km) starting from Police Plaza, Gulshan and ending to Manik Mia Avenue.

Surprised to see enthusiastic people of different age group including Kenyan and overseas runners (over 4,000 men and women registered to participate Dhaka Half marathon).

Route was fantastic, weather favorable and organizers arranged enough hydration points, volunteers and additional security including traffic police arranged for smooth running.

Mesbah’s batch mates from BMA (18th batch) pre-planned and gathered at the finish line to receive him (also a big breakfast waiting offered by Rabbi and Laboni Bhabi at one of the finest Dhaka Restaurant – Nobabi Voj”). He came within the top 10, of-course, Kenyans arrived first.

Dhaka Half Marathon was dedicated to legendary singer, writer, composer Ayub Bachchu, who passed away in 2018.
