Dear All,

Salam.

Myself like many others have been curiously following the thread discussion on the subject topic. On a lighter note we must admit at least this issue has warmed up a lot of key boards for a while and many are typing, which indeed is a positive sign and shows the inner flame of ‘Juldians’ have not died yet.

Let me confess at the beginning of this write up, I am a die hard Marine Academy cadet, I cherish my memories of Bangladesh Marine Academy, I do value them, it warms up my soul and will always do so in coming days. I do believe it may be same for many.
Now to the topic, recently we came to know from various social platforms, there has been a re-birth of an existing alumni organization with revised mission and vision under a new leadership. You all know I am talking about BMS ( Bangladesh Mariners Society), this was originally a Marine Fisheries Academy alumni started by few of the ex-cadets of Marine Fisheries Academy.
Now the question is ‘why suddenly the re-birth?’
Answer : We have re-opened in a larger context with new mission and vision where this platform will work for whole mariners community and will fight to get various facilities for them like investment funds, plots, flats, Govt facilities etc… Etc.

How that will be all done?!
Ans: Not too sure but ‘Honorable founder President’ of this restrctured organization is a man with very deep pockets, heavily connected to the right people and he knows how to make it happen!
Now now now… Let’s wait a minute here; It does not sound quite right, reminds us the old Mafia boss like ‘Alphonse Gabriel Capone’ / Al Capone of Chicago, who would do you a favor in need but you must pay it back when he needs you. In a way you sell your soul to him.

We keep observing with an alarm, a very well organized trained team working online 24/7 to build up the brand name, replying the queries almost instantly, a systemic approach has been made to influential figures in marine community to allure them and make members under the new leadership, and they are successfully moving with an aim to achieve.

The biggest question mark still remains..’Why is he doing all this?’ Being a hardcore businessman every penny and every second are immensely valuable to him, if not he would not be there where he is now, then why is he investing his valuable time, energy and money? Is it because he has a ‘heart like ocean’ where the depth of love to mariners are unfathomable? Why suddenly this new found love? Unfortunately no clear answer of these rather uncomfortable questions. Simultaneously and quite timely there has been few video clips of TV channels focusing on corruption at DG shipping and a heinous plot to grab Marine Academy waterfront along with land area to build a dry dock have surfaced and guess what! The person behind the string is the same kind hearted one promising ‘sun and moon’ to the Mariners. Does the whole scenario stinks yet? Do we still feel this is the right kind of leadership we are looking for and the right person who will place us over the personal agenda? I seriously doubt so. With horror and disbelief we witness some very respected and Senior Mariners have blindly bowed to this leadership and even influencing others to bow as well.

We can clearly see now few opinionated groups.

Group 1. Let us not speak too early, wait and see. Then we shall give a diplomatic opinion.
Group 2. Trying to say in a soft manner – it’s not very good but not that bad as well, let’s analyze deeply, what has BMMOA done so far, at least this kind hearted person trying for the good of poor mariners.
Group 3. Relatively small group -Very vocal against it however looking for direction and leadership on what to do now.
Sadly our experienced and senior mariners are mostly quiet, we do not know what they are thinking and what will be their chosen path and guidance to the younger groups/ generations. Our earnest request will be, please wake up and be vocal, take the steering to guide the Marine community in right direction, you will have all the right crew onboard to support you, it’s not too late yet.

P.S. I have added the video links for everyone’s easy reference.
