Experienced Offshore Tugboat Relief Captains and Mates

Marquette Transportation Company, LLC – Offshore Division – Larose, LA

Principal Responsibilities:

  • Oversee safety of vessel
  • Stand wheelhouse watches underway.
  • Direct crew in performance of drills.
  • Determine the need for and assign lookouts as necessary.
  • Ensure compliance with Federal, State, and Company policies and regulations.
  • Prepare, monitor, and update vessel work lists and maintenance schedules.
  • Ensure all crewmen are performing their duties.
  • Prepare written reports per company and regulatory agency directives.
  • Check and approve all requisitions and work orders.
  • Ensure supplies are used on an efficient manner, inventory and prepare material requisitions
  • Conduct inspections and monitor tug/barge maintenance activities.
  • Assign work projects for crew.
  • Inspect cleanliness of the vessel and barge.
  • Work aboard boats and barges using pike poles, heavy lines, winches, mechanical tools for repairs as needed.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Job Conditions

  • Schedule is approximately 28 days on and 14 days off.
  • Must be able to adapt to a variety of schedules and hours.
  • Must be able to work independently and without direct supervision.
  • Must have able to get along with crew members in close quarters for prolonged periods of time.
  • Exposure to all types of weather conditions (rain, ice, snow, heat, wind, etc.)
  • Must be willing to take call outs.
  • Must be able to work weekends, holidays, evenings, etc.






RequirementsQualifications:


    

  • Must have a valid U.S.C.G Merchant Mariner license, with Master or Mate of Towing Near Coastal (Minimum) or Oceans (Preferred).
    • 

  • Must have at least 3 years of experience in dredge support work, anchor handling, & towing barges as a Master or Mate.
    • 

  • Must have a valid Transportation Worker Identification Card (TWIC)
    • 

  • Must have a valid first aid certificate.
    • 

  • Must have a valid states driver’s license.
    • 

  • Must have a Valid radio operator’s license.
    • 

  • Must have be fluent in the English language verbal and written.
    •
