At the eve of the tragic Nepal crash, spontaneously comes in our mind – the tragic departure of one of the Pioneer Mariners of Bangladesh MarEngr Shukur Mahmud Sir on 5 Aug 1984 Biman crash (F-27, Ctg->Dhk. Crashed at 550 meters short of the runway at Dhk Airport. All 49 Lives lost) while he was the POMMD, Ctg. May Allah bless the departed soul.

Commencing with a Mechanical Diploma, he eventually achieved the Highest Marine Certificate Competency as Class ONE Marine Engineer from UK and became Chief Engineer of ocean-going ships. Later joined as the Principal Officer of Mercantile Marine Department (POMMD), Chittagong.
