NYK and the National Institute of Technology (KOSEN) have entered a partnership agreement to collaborate in education and public relations to assist with the development of human resources in the maritime industry and the promotion of maritime affairs awareness.

One of NYK’s programs aims to educate the next generation of seafarers. NYK and KOSEN will participate in international student exchanges between KOSEN maritime schools and the NYK-TDG Maritime Academy, which operates in the Philippines.

According to NYK, the promotion of maritime affairs awareness will include training in Japan and overseas for teachers and students. The training is due to begin this summer.

The purpose of NYK’s commitment to maritime education and training is to encourage young adults to gain a maritime perspective and improve their knowledge on the shipping industry.
