Job Description:
•    Oversee the development and implementation of the annual Indoctrination Program, to include selection, training and leadership development of the IDOs and Squad Leaders assigned to this program.
•    Oversee the daily operations of the battalions comprising the Regiment and the duties of other Regimental Battalion Officers
•    Oversee the daily operation of New Hall and the l/C and Day Student populations assigned, including the conduct processes for this same population.
•    Oversees all investigations related to alleged violations of Class I offenses under the Rules & Regulations for the Regiment of Cadets.
•    Assist, direct, advise and mentor the Cadet Officers of the respective battalions
•    Give necessary leadership and support to the Cadet Officers in the battalions
•    Implements the leadership and military training programs developed for the battalions
•    Responsible for the facilities assigned to the battalions
•    Ensure that Cadet Officers are accountable for the actions and morale of the cadets in their charge
•    Share the watches necessary to guide and reinforce the actions of the cadet watch.

Job Description:
•    Regimental Battalion Officers are the direct advisors and mentors to the Cadet Officers in their respective battalions. They oversee the training and provide the necessary support to these Cadet Officers, and to all the Cadets assigned to their battalion, to develop/hone their leadership. They directly supervise the activities of the Cadet Regimental Staff assigned to their battalion.
•    He/She oversees the conduct and performance of their respective battalions and the Cadets assigned (to include watchstanding, discipline, etc.).
•    Models appropriate character and strong ethics through disciplined behavior and professional appearance, as a representative of SUNY Maritime College. The job entails the daily shaping of the future leaders of global industries including the Maritime and transportation and key business sectors. As such this position requires the individual to maintain the highest standards of conduct and appearance, as well  as actively leading and managing the development and maturation of the  Regimental cadets.
•    The incumbent is the liaison between the Regiment and academia, professional development programs and student services for the Cadets assigned to their battalion.
•    He/She conducts/oversees weekly Mast proceedings as directed by the Rules and Regulations.
•    This position requires the ability to consistently, unemotionally, and without any deference to a particular individual, apply the standards of behavior outlined in the Regimental policies and those of the broader College in a fair and even fashion. (awarding demerits, counseling and assignment of extra duty or other such discipline at events known as Captain’s Mast).
•    Ensures that Cadet Officers are accountable for the actions and morale of the cadets in their charge,
•    Oversees performance of routine administrative functions such as conduct inspections, draft and edit regulations and policies, develop training plans and precisely maintain key records such as demerit counts or outcomes of Captain’s Mast
•    When necessary, works with the Dean of Admissions to recruit potential students. Personally attends or ensures Regimental Staff coverage at Open Houses and other events to make presentations designed to showcase the College and, in particular, the Regiment
•    As directed by supervisors and administrative authorities, embarks on the Summer Sea Training session aboard the school ship.
•    Responsible for supervising various aspects of training and cadet affairs while on Summer Sea Term, such as breathalyzing for alcohol use, supervision of  liberty and other duties as assigned.
•    Stands Regimental or ship watch (requires appropriate qualification) as assigned during Summer Sea Term.
•    Involved in the training activities associated with Title IX.
•    Supports the operations of the Regiment and/or other duties as assigned by the Commandant of the Regiment or the College President
•    Requirements:

RESPONSIBILITIES

The Systems Engineer is expected to work in a multi-disciplined team environment with highly qualified professionals. As such, he/she drives business priorities, program execution needs, and a systems view of problem solving while executing detailed engineering activities in their specific field of expertise. Works together with peers, the Advanced Technology Group Manager, Program Managers, Operations, purchasing and other managers and leaders within the business to:

  • Develop product design specifications and performance requirements
  • Develop, test, and implement control algorithms
  • Design, develop, model, analyze, test and optimize hydrodynamic structures for the purpose of wave energy converter applications.
  • Develop and use existing software tools for applications such as simulations of performance of controlled systems.
  • Produce clear, comprehensive system-level specifications with input from mechanical and electrical teams.
  • Lead/Support design and analysis of components, modules, and systems for with a focus on meeting all performance requirements while designing for manufacturability (DFM) and design to cost (DTC).
  • Create product design validation approach and experimental setups.
  • Support fabrication of prototype systems.
  • Participate in technical marketing and proposal preparation.
  • Accountability for delivering on all priorities, assignments, and program/business expectations.
  • Support the development and implementation of risk management based system solutions, as defined by the high level program objectives and customer (internal/external/market) product/solution application
  • Support and/or coordinate product and technology development reviews in accordance with the company’s Engineering development process (Stage Gate Process).
  • Ensure all technical documentation is generated and reviewed in accordance with company’s Engineering process, and Program/Customer contract deliverables/expectations.
  • Promote a safe working environment as well as a stringent focus on risk understanding, reporting and management.

REQUIREMENTS

  • Preferred design experience includes:
    • Hydrodynamics of floating bodies.
    • Signal processing such as time series analysis, spectral analysis, filter design, etc.
    • Control systems and complex electro-mechanical systems deployed in ocean environment.
    • Power Systems/industrial background in heavy electro-mechanical and mechanical equipment and operations (heavy machinery, large welded structures, dynamics analysis, fatigue assessment, corrosion prevention, hydraulics, rigging, electric power generation and distribution, high-voltage packaging, and marine operations).
  • Demonstrated track record of leadership, accountability, and ownership.
  • Ability to think “outside the box” and work with executive management to define and implement business growth strategies.
  • Software capabilities needed include: Simulink, MATLAB, ANSYS, SolidWorks (preferred), ProE, OrcaFlex, MS Project, WAMIT, and macro programming (C# / VB).

Job Title: PSEGLI Electric System Operator
The Transmission Electric System Operator is the first line supervisor overseeing the real time operation of the LIPA transmission and substation system. The Electric System Operator continuously monitors the real time operation of the Bulk Electric System in Long Island while adhering to all applicable NERC TOP standards, NPCC guidelines, New York State Reliability Council Rules and NYISO operating procedures.
Some of his/her responsibilities include:
• Continuously monitor all pertinent conditions on LIPA systems (transmission flows, system voltage, system load, frequency, etc.), identify actual or potential problems, and determine need for corrective action.
• Respond to actual and potential thermal rating violations on transmission lines and substation equipment (including SOL violations) in accordance with LIPA and NYISO operating procedures and current system conditions.
• Continuously monitor MW output of units to ensure that they are following dispatch instructions and responding to NYISO AGC signals. In consultation with the Principal System Operator, take or direct the District Operator to take corrective action as needed.
• Continuously monitor on line power flow and contingency analysis results to determine system security under unexpected/emergent conditions, identify potential operating constraints (if any), and direct the District Operator to take appropriate mitigating actions.
• Continuously monitor and manage voltage levels, reactive flows and reactive sources on an actual and contingency basis and determine need for corrective action. This includes pro-actively deploying reactive devices to stay ahead of system voltage during load cycles and ensure appropriate use of dynamic reactive resources.
• Following a severe system disturbance (e.g. loss of multiple generating units and/or interconnections), determine the cause and extent of the disturbance, develop and implement a plan to restore the system to a secure state and complete appropriate notifications.
• Directly supervise the progress of transmission outages, clearance and control processes and switching procedure to ensure all work permits are ready for pick up at scheduled start time and that they are also returned by the scheduled return time. Provide direct leadership, supervision and coaching to District Operators as required.

Desired Skills: (Knowledge and Experience Required)
• Preference will be given to applicants that meet at least one of the following three qualifications:
– Four year engineering degree and 2 or more years of experience in the area of system protection, substation maintenance, transmission planning, power systems engineering or operations.
– Two year degree and 4 or more years of experience in the area of system protection, substation maintenance, transmission planning, power systems engineering or operations.
– Six or more years of experience in a transmission, distribution or generation operating environment.
• Applicant will be required to take an approved work aptitude test by an outside consultant in order to accept this position.
• The successful candidate will be required to prepare for and pass the NERC Transmission Operator Certification exam within one year of accepting the position.
• Must be able to work a rotating 12-hour shift
• The ability to interface with all levels of management is essential

  •   Review shop drawings consisting of sequences of operation, bill of materials, wiring diagrams and equipment cut sheets.
  •   Meet with contractors to assist in construction coordination.
  •   Interface with clients to determine goals and expectations of BATC systems design.
  •   Evaluate new BATC products.
  •   Survey and analyze existing control systems for either upgrade or replacement.
  •   Provide cost estimates for building automation systems.
  •   Perform site surveys of in-construction projects and document observations.
  •   Perform system commissioning.Requirements
  •   3 – 5 years of experience in design of building automation and temperature control systems.
  •   Bachelor of Science degree in either mechanical or electrical engineering preferred.
  •   Proficient in Word, Excel and AutoCAD.
  •   Great communication skills.
  •   Knowledge of local and national codes.
    Compensation is based on experience.
