Respected Mariners

Assalamu Alaikum

May I draw your kind attention into all ours (Bangladeshi Mariners) “Treasured Fund” named “Bangladesh Merchant Navy Officers’ Benevolent Fund”. It was initiated in 1982/83 and still now working efficiently. Current amount is 50,00,000/- (fifty lakhs taka). Late ElEngr. Mazumdar bhai of BSC (later owner of MER Workshop in Ctg) had a remarkable role for initiating this fund.

Any Mariner (Member to this Fund) in distress (of any nature; controlled by the Fund’s rules/norms) are assisted as required by this fund. Since 1983, many mariners have received assistance and are being assisted now.

I am a Founder Life Member of BMNO Benevolent Fund since 1983 by paying Tk. 10,000/- (the then rate; now Tk. 20,000/-). No return is desired; let it go to any Fellow Mariner Brother/Sister or his/her family in distress.

It is being observed that general tendency is not to become Member either by ignorance or by carelessness to this prospective Fund. As a result, we opt for dealing any problem ‘case by case’ through collecting money by spending time; and by the time we collect money, the cause might have been over. And collecting money naming any one “particular” person is not always decent for him/her too. Receiving money from a “fixed fund” feels like receiving with “Right”.

So, the best option is to have a “Fixed, Ready & Recognized Fund” and that is our existing 34 years’ mature “Bangladesh Merchant Navy Officers’ Benevolent Fund”.

To date, BMNO Benevolent Fund has 263 Mariner Members

Respected Mariners, please consider becoming Member to this fund and feel ensured to some extent should you fall into any distress of any kind.

Attached docs are of help understanding the fund rules/norms and becoming a Member.

Please find emailed message from MarEngr. Fazle Rashid (16E), Treasurer of BMNO Benevolent Fund below.

Let’s go hand in hand.
